Chrome Can! Chromebook Myths Debunked

Chromebooks are great machines if you’re a student.  If you want to do any real work then maybe the Chromebook isn’t right for you.  If you want to do heavy computing things like photo or video editing a Chromebook isn’t a good choice. A Chromebook can’t be used for any professional work.

I Say Hogwash! This mindset is a thing of the past!

Welcome to Chrome Can, a series of posts I will be writing to demystify the Chromebook and debunk all those myths touting a Chromebook as an overpriced browser!

With each blog post, there will be an accompanying video posted on 808EdTech my YouTube Channel.  All of the videos in this series were created using a Chromebook.  The Chromebook I am using to create all images, videos and voiceover recordings is the Samsung Plus.  More information about this device can be found here.  If you would like to purchase it I got mine on Amazon. I am a big proponent of using technology to assist students in making their thinking visible. Making thinking visible enables the student to reflect on their own understanding and also allows the teacher to reflect on their teaching in order to make changes based on his/her students’ understanding. Technology can help in this process by providing students a platform to share their understanding and applications to enable the creation of authentic assessments. This creative process enables students to learn media literacy, think creatively and practice digital citizenship.  When students are creating they need various tools to help them in their creative process.  These tools should enable the creation of images, audio, and video.  The Chromebook can assist students in doing all of these things and so much more!
